What Pacterms does—and does not do.

Pacterms is the release layer for legal text: licensed attorneys release exact legal language for a stated scope, and a register keeps every version. This page states plainly what the product does, what it does not do, and when to bring in a qualified attorney.

Software, not a law firm

Pacterms provides software: it assembles candidate legal language, puts it in front of a licensed attorney to release, and records every version. It does not practice law, it does not review your individual situation, and no part of the product is legal advice.

Pacterms is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. For legal questions, disputes, deadlines or enforcement, consult a qualified attorney.

How a version is made, step by step

  • Research and Source Monitoring (research): AI researches statutes and official sources, using more than one model family, and records where every source came from. It is designed to watch the law behind every released version.
  • Assembly and Review Controls (check): candidate language is assembled and every candidate is checked for wrong citations and outdated law before an attorney sees it. Anything uncertain goes to a person, never auto-corrected. A second check by a different model family is not yet running.
  • Counsel Release Console (release): a licensed attorney reviews the exact version for its scope and releases it with verified login and a one-time code. By design, nothing else can release.
  • Version and Lifecycle Register (use and maintain): every version is kept with who released it, for what scope, and what replaced it. A released version is never edited; a change creates a new version. Each use will be recorded here once documents can pull released versions.

Where AI is used

AI does the research: it finds sources and raises flags for a person. Every candidate is then checked before an attorney sees it; a second check by a different model family, which attacks every candidate, is not yet running. Today no model writes a clause body or releases a version. Only a credentialed attorney can release, and the software is designed so nothing else can.

Where AI is used, surface by surface

What Pacterms is not

Being precise about boundaries is part of being trustworthy. Pacterms is not:

  • A law firm, a lawyer, or a substitute for legal advice
  • An AI agreement generator or chatbot that drafts unreviewed text for users
  • An e-signature app, invoice tool or document vault
  • A collector, lender, insurer or payment provider
  • A guarantee that a clause is legally correct or enforceable, that a court will admit a record, or that anyone will be paid

What a release record shows

Every release record carries the SHA-256 fingerprint of the exact text released. Once a version is released, authorized parties will be able to review its record in Pacterms (the public verifier is designed, not built). The record will show:

  • That the stored text matches its recorded fingerprint
  • Who released it, for what scope, and when
  • What replaced or withdrew it, and from when

A release record does not:

  • Decide whether a clause is legally correct for your situation
  • Determine the outcome of a dispute, or whether anyone gets paid
  • Prove who was physically holding a device when an action was taken

Attorney review status

State-specific legal language is held back until licensed counsel admitted in that state has released it for the specific scope. No version has been released yet.

When to consult a qualified attorney

  • You need to know whether a clause fits your situation
  • You are facing a legal deadline, a dispute, or a demand from the other side
  • A document is large or unusual enough that you want it reviewed before anyone signs
  • You want advice about your specific situation, not released language for a stated scope

Pacterms keeps the record of which version was released, for what scope. The advice itself must come from an attorney licensed in your state.
